The EPIC TRAIL VALL DE BOÍ
Born in July 2014, it was a project promoted by the Catalan brand BUFF, a pioneer in its format and with the aim of becoming an international reference for outdoor sports. With the help of Joan Rojas (founder of BUFF), and Joan Paralada (Mayor of the Boí Valley at that time), an event was started with the spirit of highlighting the Boí Valley where natural and cultural heritages such as the National Park of Aigüestortes and Estanys de Sant Maurici and the Romanesque Complex, declared World Heritage by UNESCO. That first edition had Iker Carrera and Núria Picas as winners, who completed the 105 km of the race, in which a hundred runners participated, of which only 17 were able to complete the route due to two storms that forced the neutralization of the proof.
In 2022, GARMIN took over from BUFF as Title Sponsor, thus guaranteeing the viability of the event that is committed to a high level of quality in its production. Also since 2022, the EPIC TRAIL has had a live television production of one of its races, possible thanks to a high-level production by TV3 and the support of Ferrocarriles de la Generalitat de Catalunya, as owner of the Mountain Station BOI-TAULL.
In these years, the BOÍ VALLEY has seen the success of international elite athletes such as Iker Carrera, Núria Picas, Zach Miller, Ruy Ueda, Luis Alberto Hernando, Caroline Chaverot, Marcela Vasinova, Maite Maiora, Sheila Avilés, Manu Merllas, Christian Mathys , Holly Page, Tom Owens… and above all thousands of popular athletes who have been able to enjoy the mountains, rivers and skies of a spectacular place.
